Confirmation of President’s Nominee for the Position of the Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku.

The nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku in the person of Hamza Amadu was confirmed on the 5th of October, 2021 in the Conference all of the Municipal Assembly. Out of the twenty nine Elected Assembly Members of the Municipality, twenty eight assembly members voted ‘yes’ in favor of the nominee representing ninety five percent of votes cast  while one assembly member voted ‘no’ as declared by the Presiding Officer of the Electoral Commission in the person of Aminu Abukari.

Prior to the elections, the Upper East Regional Minister in the person of Stephen Yakubu in his remarks said that the stage was set for Assembly Members to take the development of the area to the next level. He admonished Hon. Members to do the needful to consider the nominee for work to begin as he had been found suitable by the President of Ghana as well as key stakeholders within the Municipality. He urged Members to lay partisan politics aside and consider the interest of the communities, Region and the Country as a whole.

The Municipal Chief Executive-Elect in his victory speech thanked God, the President of Ghana and everyone who supported him through the process. He added that this victory was for the youth of Bawku as well as to ensure the socio-economic development of the people of Bawku.
