The Office of the Bawku Municipal Assembly conducts Performance Review meeting of the Medium Term Development Plan 2018-2021
It is established in Section 82 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act, 936), that District Assemblies are the Planning Authorities of the various Districts in Ghana. As the planning authority of the Municipality, Bawku Municipal Assembly has been preparing Medium Term Development Plans (MTDPs) for the Municipality. The 2018-2021 MTDP was the sixth in the series. The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to initiate the preparation of the next Medium-term Development Plan which spans between the years 2022-2025.
As part of the preparation, a performance review meeting was organized by the Office of the Bawku Municipal Assembly to assess the implementation status of development programs, projects and activities in the Medium-term Development Plan 2018-2021 under the Agenda for Jobs: Creating Prosperity and equal opportunities for all. The meeting which was organized on the 9th of April, 2021 at the Municipal Conference Hall brought together various stakeholders from Departments of Municipal Assembly, non-decentralized institutions, Zonal Councils, Public Corporations, Governmental Services and Authorities such the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana National Fire Service etc.
Joseph Azuntaba, on behalf on the Municipal Planning Officer, took the House through the Medium Term Development Plan Guidelines. In his presentation, he touched on the new guidelines and the need for it and the expected effect on the Plan. He also talked about the processes for the preparation of the Medium-term Development Plan, the template for the Performance Review and financial Performance 2018-2021, situational analysis of the Municipal Assembly, Key development priorities, projections, goals, objectives and strategies.
Heads of Decentralized Departments took turns to take the meeting through their Departmental Performance Review of the Medium-term Development Plan 2018-2021.
